JWU Graduate Wins Food Network Competition
Emily Sullivan, a JWU Charlotte graduate, hopes her big win on Food Network’s "Supermarket Stakeout" will open doors that otherwise wouldn’t have been opened. She recently appeared on the show's season 4 episode "Boo Hoo in the Bayou" and beat out three other chefs to take home the $10,000 prize.

JWU Charlotte Wins Grant, Expands Student Offerings
Back in 2021, the United States Department of Education recognized JWU’s Charlotte Campus as a predominantly Black institution — 45% of the campus’ student population identifies as Black or African American. With this designation came funding, by way of the Predominantly Black Institutions (PBI) Competitive Grant, where $1.25 million was allotted to the Charlotte Campus to invest in the student experience over a 5-year period.

Tips for Transfer Student Success
Transferring colleges is a big decision — a choice millions of college students make during their academic journey.
Currently at Johnson & Wales University (JWU), 13% of the undergraduate student population at the Providence Campus and 10% at the Charlotte Campus are transfer students. One of the biggest resources transfer students have are university admissions counselors; among them is JWU Transfer Specialist Nayira Warren.

Inspiring Wildcat: Morgan Belardo
If you were to ask Morgan Belardo to name one of her biggest role models she would tell you her dad is among the top on her list. Belardo’s father passed away in September 2022 following an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. She began raising awareness about the disease by starting an annual, one-day bake sale called The Sweet Exchange that has raised nearly $30,000 since launched in 2018.

Inspiring Wildcat: Damarious Borden
Damarious Borden grew up with a passion for two things: sports and cooking. A North Carolina native, he sought out Johnson & Wales University to pursue a career where his passions could merge. His JWU academic journey concludes in the fall semester of 2022, following the completion of his internship with the Sacramento Kings. This opportunity was an educational experience made possible by Damarious’ exemplary work in the classroom and faculty connections. More important, it will prepare him as he sets out to achieve his dream of becoming a sports performance industry chef.
